  • Smokin Inferno

I am a 180-185 ave bowler using a visionary 15lb dc magneta for about 5 years, i think its time for a new ball. Anyway, someone on my last league had a Smokin Inferno and it rocked, went long and smooth and then bang, alot of pin action.
I was wondering if there is another comparable bowl to the Smokin Inferno or should i just go for it?

Also were is the best buys for bowling balls online? any hints to were to buy. It looks like the prices online for the Smokin Inferno is about 119-135. Any local bowling house was way more expensive that that.

Gosh -- There are so many choices in bowling balls today, it's a daunting task to pick out a new one.. I've come to rely on the guys that do the reviews in the bowling magazine called "Bowling This Month".

Ultimately, I'd like to see this site get so popular, that I can get the ball manufactures to give us sample balls to review for the public. So let all your bowling acquaintences know about BowlingTracker.

As for the Smokin' Inferno... That appears to be a very aggresive ball.
Hook Potention: 135 out of 175.
    Length: 100 out of 200.
Breakpoint Shape: 95 out of 100 (sharp angle).
    Flare Potential: .042 (med high)
RG: 3.4 our of 10. (very low, which is good).

This seems like it would be a serious skid/snap ball, and is probably best used on heavy oil with clean backends.. Depending on how it's drilled and your release type, it might work well on medium, or even meadium dry, so long as the heads are not to burnt..

I'm not familar with the visionary ball your currenly using, but somehow I dont think it's nearly as aggressive as this ball..

If your a cranker, you probably don't want a LowRG ball..

I doubt if this helped much.. lol.. Maybe someone can come along that has some experience with that particular ball..

    Cheers,
    James

On purchasing the ball. Yes, they are cheap on-line, but remember that without drilling normally. Find out what your pro shop will charge you for drilling a ball and put that to the price. Also your pro shop will probably be more willing to help you with
any concerns with the ball if you purchase it from them. No, I do not work or own a
pro shop...I have always just had good luck paying the extra $20-30 when I purchased it from a pro-shop.

Thank you 60+bowler.. That's good advice.. especially for those that need help determining the best drill pattern for the ball. The pro shop owner should be able to fit a ball to your still of bowling..
