  • Nationals Practice @ Cashman Ctr.

Tomorrow night, @ 6 in a five man team format, this should be the final pattern test, I'll post the conditions as best as I can describe, the charts were supposed to be up on Bowl.com but I haven't seen them yet.
Hope it won't be as tough as the Masters condition but it should be challenging.

I'll post my scores and equipment used when I get home tomorrow night.
If I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roarin' Friday night

      Here are the results.

      OK, so here goes...

tonight we were supposed to bowl a team style event, but they did that last night, so we bowled a doubles and singles format, four to a pair so the games went really fast.

      Game 1,
I started with my Roto SD-73 sanded to 1000 grit Abralon, I had a pretty good line to the pocket playing straight up the 10 board, I too often let the ball swing out too far (2-3 boards) and was rewarded with washouts
      157.

      Game 2
I tried switching balls and played the same line with the Roto Grip Cell sanded to 2000 Abralon, no hook at all, so I put it back in the bag after 2 frames, back to the SD 73, and again played it straight up 10, there was no playing inside tonight on this pair for me, none of my balls had enough movement to get back to the pocket from this angle, switched to my Vintage Columbia Quake, playing outside again and had a really good look to the pocket.
finished with XX9 in the 10th for another 157

      Game 3,
Stuck to the Quake playing outside and ended my first set with a 199.

we now moved right 1 pair for singles

      Game 4,
this pair had a completly different look, and the Quake was no help so I switched to the SD-73 again, this time I had a good shot playing inside around 15 swinging the ball out to about 5-8, if I held my line and didn't get it out past 5 it came back to the pocket nicely. 183

      Game 5,
the shot is starting to go away, I stuck with the SD-73, trying small moves back and forward on the approach, striking only if the shot was perfect, I tried to leave make-able? spares, and ended this game with 177.

      Game 6,
By now I'm getting tired, the shot has completley changed, I have moved back outside, and switched balls, back to the Quake, no help, I even threw the Cell again a few times, no love this game 158.

all in all, it was nice to practice on one of the patterns that will be decided on and used for the nationals, I guess it was a privilage to be allowed to try out the lanes before the tournament starts, it was a really challenging shot, I suppose it has to be to bring out the best of the best bowlers, I hope that I can score better when I finally get to bowl in the tournament in June, but till then I will try to practice my spare shooting, because missed spares cost me plenty of pins in totals.
I averaged 171 for the 6 games tonight, most likely not enough to cash in the actual tournament. And better than I bowled on the Masters condition.

If you are coming to town bring your "A" game and Good Luck
If I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roarin' Friday night
