  • Women's US Open

I was watching the Geico All Star Shootout tonight on ESPN and saw a commercial that the USBC Women's US Open is being broadcast for 5 Sundays starting I believe September 15 or 16. (Note : I am too lazy to refer to a calendar at this moment to see which date is a Sunday).

I don't know anyone else's sentiments but I miss seeing the ladies on TV. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling again for them. No pun intended. Who is your favorite female bowler and why? Mine is Marianne DiRupo because I saw her win a title. All the other bowlers were playing an outside line, either swinging the ball or down and in, but she played an inside line. It was really pretty impressive. She was hitting between 4th and 5th arrows thru the heads and was letting the ball go out to about 13 or 14. None of the other bowlers in the step ladder finals ever attempted to play inside.

I used to like Lisa Wagner alot, because she bowled very much like I did at the time.. (although much better..lol)

Nowawdays, I like Kelly Kulic. I crossed with her in a Pro-Am some years back and she was very nice. She's also fearless when matching up with the guys. I'd love to see her win one of the Denny's tour tourneys..

    High Series: 806
    High Games: 300 (3), 299 (2), 11 in a row

I always enjoyed watching the womens tour because I thought you could learn a lot more by watching the women than the men. The women rely more on fundamentals, accuracy and shot making where as a lot of the men have more of a "grip it and rip it" mentality. I mean Tommy Jones and Sean Rash are fun to watch but very few people throw the ball like they do.
