  • 3-ball bag (what should I get?)

I just bought a new ball (BWP) and it's a great addition to my Reaper and Everclear (I'm a Hammer guy, what can I say).

Anyway, I had a cheap bag from K Mart (the Brunswick 2 ball carrier) and I want to carry all three balls with me so I'm looking for a good 3-ball carrier.

I want something that isn't horrible to drag around, but would be strong enough for flying with. I'll be going to Vegas in June of 08 for a tournament so I'd like it to survive the flight as well (it'll probably be my carry on).

My pro shop guy showed me a really nice bag ...I think it's the Storm Pro 3 roller bag. I really liked it, but he had it listed for $170, he'll give it to me for $143 plus tax.

    Any help would be great...thanks.

You can find nice 3 ball rollers for pretty cheap at several online stores. I have been very satisfied with the service I have gotten from bowlingball.com and buddiesproshop.com. Both ship very quickly and their prices are hard to beat.

A word of advice, don't spend $150 on a bag then take it on a plane! Some guys have decent luck with rolling bags on planes but more times than not they wind up damaged. I have found the best way to travel with equipment is check a 2 ball tote and carry on a 2 ball tote. Make sure you put the ball/balls you can't live without in the bag you're carrying on the plane. The same goes with your shoes. If they lose your luggage you still have your shoes and your 1 or 2 go to balls to use until they track down the others.

When I got my first 3 ball bag, I was lucky and got mine at Kmart also, but it was the last one and I haven't seen any others it at all. but if your looking for a cheaper ball bag, then check out www.bowling.com and look at the KR bags from what I hear they are really good for the price. or if you really just want to go really cheap just buy one of those Joey totes that slide onto the extention handle that you can put one of your ball in.

Yea I agree with BigDawg don't buy a expensive 3 ball bag, I have a team mate that had a 220.00 Storm roller bag and when he took it to nationals the people at the airport broke the bars under the bag and ruined it. so he was pissed plus he had only it 6 months.

KR bags are good. In fact I think they actually manufacture a lot of the bags for Columbia, Brunswick etc. Typically the name brand bag is more expensive than the KR. So in a lot of cases if you go with Brunswick etc, your actually paying a little more for the name.

Another option for travel is to use a courier company. If I travel for a week away, I come pretty close to the luggage limit without bowling equipment. Once you add in 4 bowling balls, and shoes, etc, I would end up with a fairly big bill from the airline.

You can ship via UPS to your hotel with insurance for less money than the airline charges for overweight luggage.

            Just an idea...

Thats what a buddy and I did this past year at nationals. We both took 6 balls. We took 4 on the plane (2 checked and 2 carry on each) and shipped 4 UPS. I think the charge from Texas to Nevada was about $60 round trip.
If you ship with UPS, go to your local pro shop and get a 4 ball box. You should be able to get 4 balls in 2 tote bags in the box.
