  • Stat Generator not working

OK, so I go to my stats. I click on "Stat Link Generator", I check the box next to the league I want. I choose HTML...and I get nothing

Nothing in the box but emptiness.

I've tried asking for BBCode (which I don't even want) and I still get nothing.

I've tried IE6, Firefox 2.0, Safari (not sure what version) and I get nothing.

I've used a Mac and a PC, with nothing.

I know that it works for a friend of mine, because he posts his every week or so.

    Help?

I tried it seems to be working ok at the moment. Might try clearing your browser cache, the cookies and making sure java script, the browser etc. is up to date. see if that helps.

OK, I tried clearing cache / cookies. I even DL'd IE7 and tried there. I know that it's working just fine for other people, but I am still getting a white box of nothingness

I've also just checked, out of curiousity, to see if I could get a link made and I could. You've said you check the league you want, are you also putting the dot (to the left) in the HTML portion of the deal?

So that said, you've stated you've tried a PC and MAC, different browsers, and then you tried both codes. To me, it sounds like you're missing something that may be just a simple fix. Maybe you could see if your friend (if he is nearby) can help you find out if it is you, the sight, or the computers (security levels to high or something??)?

Well whatever happens, good luck, TenPin.

P.S. I don't know if it would work, but maybe your friend can genrate the code for you?
Be very, very, quiet please, I'm hunting ten pins and it's easier when they're not spooked

I love your signature. Yes, I am making sure the dot next to the code is checked. Unfortunately, my friend is not local, and I don't really know him well enough to be giving out my password, etc.

Yes, I've tried 2 PC's and one Mac, and IE6, IE7, Firefox 2, and Safari.

This is very frustrating, as this was the whole reason I signed up for an account.

Well I've been able to duplicate the problem. It appears to be with javascript. I disabled java and went to "Stat Link Generator", I check the box next to a league. I choose HTML and I get a empty box. So I would say java is acting up, I've seen java cause some problems with page behavior before.

So I would suggest checking the java settings in your browser options and the java control panel in the system. try resetting java to the default settings, clear any saved java preferences/cache files.

This is the page to test java to see if its working on your system/browser.

The latest version is Java 6 Update 11 I believe

Also heres a klink to how to configure java.

Or if you get frustrated you could just uninstall java, then reinstall with the latest ver. that way it starts from scratch with a clean ver.

            ps
            I added your avatar

Thanks for adding my avatar! OK, I tried all of the java stuff on both Firefox AND IE7 (the mac is at home), and I even did a restart after clearing cache, etc. and still the box is empty.

I even added new scores this morning in case that helped. (Sometimes the silliest things are what does the trick)

Also, I had put lane "0" in for the weeks I didn't have lanes assignments written down, and I switched all those to lane "2" (in case lane 0 was throwing an error somewhere) and still nothing.

              *sigh*

Hmmm I still think its with java. Something conflicting with it or blocking it.
did you try the java test page?
When you cleared the cache was that the "Java" cache? or just the browser cache.
The Java cache is cleared in the java control panel in the system control panels.
If its cleared out , it should force it to reload the applets.
its possible there maybe a security setting thats blocking proper operation of it too.

On firefox, I had to install java from scratch, and I made sure it worked on the test page. On IE7, it worked immediately from the test page, and then I followed the instructions to clear the browser cahce. The instructions to clear java cache apparently don't apply to IE7 OR FF2.

Do you think I should try to roll back to IE6?

If you can't get it to work. you can make the link yourself. heres how.

Copy this code into a text editor like notepad.

                    Code:
                    <table cellspacing=1><tr><td colspan=2><img src='http://BowlingTracker.com/images/MyBowlingTrackerStats.gif'></td></tr><tr><td nowrap bgcolor='#000099' style='color:#FFFFFF'><b>League Name/Season</b></td><td nowrap bgcolor='#000099' style='color:#FFFFFF'><b>Bowler Name</b></td></tr><tr><td><a target='_blank' href='http://Bowlingtracker.com/index.php?page=viewprofile&PS_LeagueID=00000'><b>leaguename</b></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;</td><td>yournamehere&nbsp;&nbsp;</td></tr></table>
Now go to the stat page of the league you want, look in the url for the page and find the League id number. it will look something like this.-_LeagueID=10042

now look in the code here and find where it says_LeagueID=00000 change the 00000 to the _LeagueID number of your stats (example 10042)

now look in the code here and find where it says league name and change that to your league name.

now look in the code here and find where it says yournamehere change that to your name.

now just copy and paste the new code you made into your signature.

I don't think that will help unless the link gen worked before in it.

The clear java cache should work no matter what browser your using. Its a control panel in the windows control panels.

                        on the java web page

the updated java control panel looks different now.
                        clear java cache is under
go to "Java Control Panel" the general tab-temp. internet settings click settings-then delete files. there is also a restore defaults there too.

OK, I did all that and still nothing - but the code you gave me earlier worked, so I definitely thank you for that

I'm half tempted to open a new account and see if it will work there, but I am attached to the moniker of StrykeLegend
