5 pin
The pins are set up in a pyramid shape. If you were to look at it as a 10 pin set up, the pins would be in the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 pin positions. The pins are shorter, have a rubber ring around the belly, 3 attempts at knocking all of them down, and the ball fits the palm of your hand. The top score is 450, but I'm not real sure how the scoring works? I know that the pins have different point values, and that they also have strikes, spares, and a final ball to pick up the rest of the ones you leave for score.
I've never tried 5 pin, but I hear it is perty challenging. Here is a video from YouTube that may give you a better idea.
Be very, very, quiet please, I'm hunting ten pins and it's easier when they're not spooked

Spot on TenPin. Pretty much all I ever played growing up here in Canada. There are many 10 pin lanes available too but 5 pin has been the staple for many years. The scoring is easy once you've done it a bit. Pin values are 5pts for head pin, 3 pts for either one to the side of head pin and corners are 2pts for a total of 15. Strikes count 15 plus what you count on two balls in the following frame. Two strikes in a row would have you count 30 on the first strike plus your first ball of the third frame and 15 on the second strike plus your two ball count on that following frame. Three in a row counts 45 on that first strike. Spare counts 15 as well but only plus your first ball in the following frame. Alternate strike-spare frames for a whole game and you roll 300.
